R. Kelly received a new charge on Thursday. According to the Brooklyn prosecutor in 1994, the singer encouraged another person to bribe an official for a fake ID of a third, unnamed woman.
The charge does not reveal whether the bribery actually took place and whether the false identity document was ultimately fabricated. Also, in this indictment, R. Kelly is not accused of abusing the female person.
Robert Kelly, as the 52-year-old singer is called in real life, is on trial in Chicago in April 2020 for various crimes, including the possession of child pornography, the luring of a minor to sexual acts and the obstruction of justice. His lawsuit takes place in Brooklyn in May of that year, for, among other things, keeping women and girls away from their friends and family.
R. Kelly has been detained since his arrest in July, pending trial in several US states. The singer has declared at a previous session to be innocent.
