The presentation of the Emmy Awards is again on a smaller scale this year due to the corona pandemic. A lot fewer stars will be on the red carpet ahead of the award show on September 19. The organization does not say how many will make an appearance.
The number of guests, employees and press present is also limited at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the location where the ceremony takes place. Crew members and journalists must also show a vaccination certificate plus a negative test certificate. It is not clear what rules apply to the nominees.
Although the 73rd presentation of the prestigious television awards is still more limited than usual, it is larger than a year ago. Last year the show took place via a video link and winners received their statuettes digitally. This year the nominees are in the hall again. Comedian Cedric the Entertainer hosts the show.
The hit Netflix series The Crown and The Mandalorian , which can be seen on Disney+, are the big contenders this year. Both series have been nominated 24 times.
