After a two-year break, the 69-year-old Spanish film director Pedro Almodovar will present his new work – the drama “Dolor Y Gloria” (Dolor y gloria). In the work on it the master reunited with the stars, which he shot in several previous films. Two heroes in his new film were played by 44-year-old Penelope Cruz and 58-year-old Antonio Banderas . Sony Pictures showed the first shots in the trailer online.
Inspired by the drama “Eight and a Half” by Federico Fellini, Almodovar talks about the aging director Salvador Malo (the role of Antonio Banderas), who looks back on his life and remembers the most significant people in it. Viewers will learn about the main women in his fate, losses and the connection of personal experiences with creativity.
Banderas and Cruz last met on the set of Pedro Almodovar in 2013, when he filmed the comedy “I am very excited” (Los amantes pasajeros).
The Spanish director is a frequent guest of the Cannes Film Festival, so it can be predicted that he will show the film “Dolor Y Gloria” on the Cote d’Azur this year.
