Patrick Dempsey Named People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2023
In a much-anticipated annual tradition, People magazine has announced its latest Sexiest Man Alive for the year 2023, and the coveted title goes to none other than actor Patrick Dempsey.
The announcement was made in a special reveal on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” during Tuesday night’s broadcast. Prior to the big reveal, Dempsey engaged in a playful Q&A session with the audience, donning various amusing filters, including a realistic lizard face and a donkey filter, on the popular late-night talk show.
In an interview with People magazine, following his selection as the Sexiest Man Alive for 2023, Dempsey expressed his gratitude and shared his thoughts on the recognition. “I’m glad it’s happening at this point in my life,” he said. “It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive.”
When asked about his initial reaction to the news, Dempsey humorously replied, “I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I’ve always been the bridesmaid!”
Several other notable names were mentioned as part of the “many, many sexy men” featured in People magazine’s 2023 Sexiest Man Alive issue, alongside the honoree, Patrick Dempsey. Pedro Pascal, Timothée Chalamet, Usher, Jamie Foxx, Lenny Kravitz, and Philadelphia Eagles’ star center Jason Kelce were among those recognized.
The Sexiest Man Alive feature has been a beloved tradition for People magazine since its inception in 1985, with Mel Gibson as the inaugural winner at the age of 29. Previous honorees include Chris Evans (2022), Paul Rudd, Michael B. Jordan, John Legend, and Idris Elba, among others.
