The release date of the films Top Gun: Maverick and Mission: Impossible 7 , starring Tom Cruise, has been postponed again. Both films will not hit theaters until months later, Deadline reports .

Top Gun: Maverick was originally scheduled to release on November 19, but has been delayed by six months to May 27, 2022.

The seventh installment of Mission: Impossible was initially scheduled for May 2022, but will now hit theaters on September 30, 2022.

The decision was made due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Cinemas around the world are not yet running at full capacity.

The same decision was made in April, as the shooting of the films was delayed due to the pandemic. The new Top Gun movie was actually supposed to premiere in July 2021 and Mission: Impossible 7 was initially scheduled for November 2021. The eighth installment in the series has also been moved and will be released in July 2023.
