The franchise continues to evolve.
Streaming service Netflix has produced the documentary Making The Witcher and released a trailer for the short film. The film tells about how the Witcher series was created. Showrunner Doren Hossrich and co-stars Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allen will talk about the show. In addition, the film includes numerous shots from the set, from make-up rooms and CGI studios.
The film crew of the series has already started filming the second season. A few days ago, Henry Cavill posted a photo from the dressing room on Instagram, thus indicating that work on the season has begun. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is not yet known when the new season will be shown to viewers: exactly in 2021, but it’s too early to talk about the month of the premiere.
The service plans to further develop the franchise. An animated prequel about Vesemir is expected to appear this year. The Witcher: Blood Origin series has also been announced. Under the direction of Lauren Hissrick, six episodes will be filmed, telling about the first witchers. Pan Andrzej Sapkowski himself was involved in creating the script for this series. But the details of the plot have not yet been reported.
