Netflix is making a six-part prequel to the story that takes place twelve hundred years before the events that appeared in the series The Witcher . The Witcher: Blood Origin is about the creation of the first Witcher and the events that lead to the amalgamation of the worlds of monsters, humans and elves.
Declan de Barra, who previously wrote one of the eight episodes of The Witcher and also composed music for the series, will direct the production of the prequel.
The series is based on the fantasy books of the Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The books were also made into three games, collectively selling more than 33 million times.
Sapkowski will assist De Barra and the other producers in the creation of the new series. “It’s great that The Witcher ‘s world is getting bigger,” said the writer. “I hope it will generate even more fans.”
The story of The Witcher about monster hunter Geralt (played by Superman -acteur Henry Cavill) who is trying to find his place in a world where people crazier than monsters seem to be. Actresses Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan can also be seen in the series. They interpret the characters Yennefer and Ciri.
The series premiered in December 2019. A second season was announced at the end of 2019, but due to the corona crisis, it is not yet clear when this will be shown on Netflix.
