Netflix is going to make a large-scale game show based on the South Korean hit series ‘Squid Game’. The new reality competition series will win the highest cash prize in reality TV history with $4.56 million. Dutch people can also register, provided they speak English.
In Squid Game: The Challenge , just like in the series, 456 contestants from around the world will have to complete trials and challenges to ultimately emerge as the winner. In the series, however, where dropouts have to pay with death, in the reality version they are only sent home empty-handed. The series will consist of ten episodes and will be filmed in the United Kingdom, Netflix reports on Tuesday. The registration is now open.
“Fans of the drama series are in for a fascinating and unpredictable journey as our 456 real-life contestants navigate the biggest competitive series ever, full of thrills and surprising twists, with the highest cash prize ever at the end of the ride,” said Netflix’s Brandon Riegg.
The Squid Game series was officially renewed for a second season earlier this week. The first season of the series ranks as Netflix’s most popular series of all time to date, with more than 1.65 billion hours of viewing in the first 28 days after its September 2021 premiere.
