Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, graciously accepted the Women of Vision Award from the Ms. Foundation during an inspiring event held at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in Manhattan.
The gala marked the 50th anniversary of the foundation and launched a groundbreaking fundraising campaign aiming to raise $100 million over the next year. This substantial amount will be utilized to advance equity-focused initiatives and empower women collectively.
In her acceptance speech, Meghan emphasized the importance of finding inspiration to advocate for equity, urging women to seize the opportunity to shape their own lives. She acknowledged the ongoing work that lies ahead and the necessity of addressing injustice fearlessly and truthfully. Reflecting on her upbringing and the influence of Ms. Magazine, Meghan expressed gratitude for the organization and its co-founder, Gloria Steinem, who introduced her at the event.
While this marked Meghan’s first public appearance since Prince Charles III’s coronation, she chose not to mention the ceremony. Instead, she focused on the impactful work she and her husband, Prince Harry, undertake through their Archewell Foundation. The foundation’s efforts include supporting COVID-19 vaccination campaigns in partnership with Global Citizen and facilitating the resettlement of refugees in the United States through Welcome.US.
