Leonardo DiCaprio will play one of the leading roles in the new comedy Don’t Look Up , Empire reports Thursday. The shooting of the film, which is being made for Netflix, will start next month in the American city of Boston.
In February it was already announced that Jennifer Lawrence will play a leading role. She and DiCaprio play two scientists who discover that Earth is about to be hit by a meteor. The couple travels to generate media attention, but are met with indifference and people who don’t believe them.
Don’t Look Up is written and directed by Adam McKay, known for The Big Short and Vice . Those satirical films, based on the banking crisis and the life of American Vice President Dick Cheney respectively, were nominated for several Oscars.
Just like in The Big Short , Don’t Look Up features several well-known actors in small roles. The so-called cameos are reserved for Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Matthew Perry and Ariana Grande.
