Lady Gaga (36) and Tony Bennett (96) still receive an Emmy Award nomination for ‘One Last Time: An Evening With Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’. The special was already nominated in the best music special category, but Tony and Lady Gaga were not on the list because they had not produced the special.
That will now change, because the duo could still be added as Host (presenter). That change was implemented on Tuesday evening, music magazine Rolling Stone reports , a day before Tony’s 96th birthday. In addition to this nomination, the special also participates in three other categories, including camera work, technology and music.
The special features two of the duo’s shows at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. These were Tony’s last two appearances before putting an end to touring forever. Traveling and performing would become too taxing for the singer, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, who are also friends, released a second album together shortly after the two performances: the Grammy Awards-winning ‘Love for Sale’.
