Our guide to the promising new series to start as soon as the school year is well advanced, and the one in question here certainly holds a place of choice. Kidding , proposed by Showtime in a few weeks, signifies the return of Jim Carrey in a regular role on television. And under the direction of Michel Gondry while doing, with whom he has already worked on the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind .
The return of Jim Carrey on the small screen
In Kidding , created by Dave Holstein, Jim Carrey plays Jeff aka Mr. Pickles, a popular television star with children, a beacon of kindness and wisdom for the most impressionable young American minds, who also has a multi-million dollar business empire. But when his family begins to implode, he finds neither fairy tale nor puppet capable of guiding him through this crisis, which gently leads this kind man towards an insanity as hilarious as heartbreaking.
The rest of the cast, Catherine Keener, Frank Langella or Judy Greer will be there. The first season will consist of 10 episodes of 30 minutes, all made by Gondry.
Kidding arrives on September 9 on Showtime.
