Katy Perry has had to delay the release date of her sixth studio album Smile by two weeks, she reports on Twitter . The album, which would initially be released on August 14, can now be heard from August 28.
“I hate throwing this bad news at you like a pie in the face … but if there’s one thing 2020 has taught me, it’s not to get too attached to plans and be malleable,” writes Perry with some photos where she gets a cake thrown in her face. “Due to inevitable production delays, my album Smile will be released two weeks later on August 28.”
To make up for her fans, the singer, who is also born in August of her first child, promises to go live on social media every Sunday. She will start this next Sunday “until the album is released, or the baby is there … depending on which comes first”. The time and where the singer will be seen will be announced later.
“You will see new merchandise, I’ll play some clips and maybe we’ll have a conversation together,” said Perry. “Thank you for being so flexible at this time … it’s crazy. But I hope the patience is worth the wait.”
Welp. I hate to throw this bad news at you like a pie in the face…but if there’s anything 2020 taught me, it’s to not get too attached to plans and be malleable.
