Kanye West has sued the record companies EMI and Roc-A-Fella, because the rapper says he still gets money from both companies.
This is reported by the TMZ entertainment website on the basis of legal documents.
Roc-A-Fella says that West has signed an exclusive record deal, but the rapper does not agree with that. He also says he still gets money from the company.
During the early days of his career, West was under contract with EMI. According to that company, he has placed the rights of all music he has made until 2011 with the company.
West now wants to hear from the judge if that is the case or if he is right. If he gets it right, he also demands money from EMI.
It is about some of his best known songs.
Jay-Z, a good friend of West, once owned Roc-A-Fella, but he sold his shares in that company. West also emphasized that the charge has nothing to do with Jay-Z.
