K-pop group BTS big winner at American Music Awards

K-pop group BTS was named Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards (AMAs) on Sunday night. In addition, the South Korean artists won the awards for best pop group and best pop song ( Butter ).

 

Olivia Rodrigo picked up the award for best new artist during the ceremony in Los Angeles. Lil Nas X became the winner of the award for best music video. The award for best gospel artist went to Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.

Megan Thee Stallion won the awards for best female hip-hop artist and best hip-hop album ( Good News ). Drake picked up the award for best male hip-hop artist. SZA and The Weeknd won the prize for best R&B artists.

Doja Cat was awarded three times. She won the awards for best collaboration ( Kiss Me More with SZA), best R&B album ( Planet Her ) and best female R&B artist.

Taylor Swift breaks own record

Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran have already been crowned top male and female pop star during the pre-show of the AMAs. With that, Swift broke the record for the most AMAs ever won, which was already in her name.

Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood won the Best Country Artist awards.

The 52-year-old DJ Tiësto has not managed to cash in his nomination. He lost out to Marshmello in the best dance artist category. In addition to Tiësto and Marshmello, David Guetta, Illenium and Regard were also nominated in that category.
