Jenna Ortega, the star of Wednesday, has expressed her sadness over the recent passing of Lisa Loring, the actress who played Wednesday Addams in the 1966 sitcom “The Addams Family”.
On January 28th, Loring passed away at the age of 64. In response, Ortega took to her Instagram Story to share black-and-white photos of Loring and to write a short but heartfelt message about her death, saying “Absolutely devastated. Thank you for everything.”
Loring’s death was confirmed by her daughter Vanessa Foumberg who stated that she passed away peacefully, with both of her daughters by her side. Vanessa also mentioned that her mother died on January 28th after suffering a stroke.
Ortega previously revealed to Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” that her popular Wednesday dance was inspired by Lisa Loring’s original portrayal of the character. Ortega paid homage to Loring, who was the first actress to play Wednesday Addams, by incorporating her shuffle into her dance moves.
A friend of Lisa Loring, Laurice Jacobson, paid tribute to the actress, acknowledging the impact she had on popular culture. Loring’s legacy, both in entertainment and in the hearts of her family and friends, will long be remembered for the humor, affection, and love she brought into their lives. The post concluded with the words, “RIP, Lisa. Damn, girl…you were a ton of fun.”
