Hospitals in Hong Kong are fully engaged in the treatment of demonstrators from the Polytechnic University (PolyU). The authorities say that about 280 demonstrators have reported there since Tuesday morning.
In recent days, hundreds of young demonstrators had entrenched themselves in the university, which is surrounded by the police. He reports that on Monday almost 1500 tear gas cartridges and 1391 rubber bullets were fired. Most demonstrators are said to have left PolyU. There are an estimated 100 demonstrators in the institution.
The police report that around 1100 people have been checked at and around the university. They have been arrested or their personal information has been noted.
Depressed protesters are desperate for a way out. “I feel like I’m in trouble,” acknowledged a 22-year-old man who was meeting with two friends on campus. “We try to think of an escape option. But every time we choose a place, we see that there is a lot of police in the area.”
