Rumors surrounding a sequel to the first season of House of the Dragon were confirmed on Friday. HBO is releasing a second season of the popular Game of Thrones prequel .
House of the Dragon hit a ratings record during its premiere on Sunday. The first episode has been seen by more than 20 million people in the US, with 10 million viewers watching the show that same night. The ratings are in line with the Game of Thrones season six premiere .
House of the Dragon is based on the book Fire & Blood by George RR Martin. The series is about the Targaryen family and is set three hundred years before the Game of Thrones story . Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy, among others, have a role.
