This year for horror fans turned out to be saturated with unexpected and expected premieres. The publication Screen Rant has compiled a list of the best horror films, among which were box office record holders and critics’ favorites.
First place was taken by “Hereditary” by Ari Aristera. The picture combines most of the most frightening elements of horror: terrible family secrets, insects, obsession, burning alive and much more. The film was not able to pay off at the box
On the second line is the directorial debut of John Krasinski “Silent Place”. A limited number of actors, scenic locations and monsters from another planet conquered the audience and brought the film charges, 20 times larger than the budget. The picture is good precisely because the plot keeps in suspense until the last minutes and does not pay attention to logical errors and inconsistencies.
Three leaders closes “Suspiria” directed by Luca Guadanino. The remake of the 1977 film was not to the taste of the audience, but critics noted it with positive reviews. Dakota Johnson spent two years doing ballet for the sake of this film, but her efforts were in vain, and the picture failed at the box office.
The top ten also includes:
“Ghost Stories” with Martin Freeman
The Survivor by Coralie Fargea
“Mandy” with Nicolas Cage
“Annihilation” with Natalie Portman
“Overlord” about zombie Nazis
“Little Stranger” with Donal Gleason
“Halloween” with Jamie Lee Curtis
