HBO Chief Casey Bloys Unveils Release Updates for Highly-Anticipated Shows
In a recent press event held in New York, HBO’s Chief, Casey Bloys, dropped a treasure trove of information about some of the network’s most anticipated shows, including “House of the Dragon,” “Euphoria,” “White Lotus,” and more.
First on the agenda, fans of the “Game of Thrones” universe can mark their calendars for the return of “House of the Dragon.” The eagerly awaited second season of the acclaimed prequel is set to grace our screens in “early summer” of 2024. This season will consist of eight episodes, two fewer than the first installment. Bloys tantalizingly mentioned that a first trailer for the season exists but is subject to a strict nondisclosure agreement regarding its contents. The production of “House of the Dragon” has wrapped, and it’s currently in post-production.
However, it wasn’t all good news for fans, as Bloys revealed that “Euphoria” season three, “White Lotus” season three, and HBO’s prequel series to Stephen King’s novel “IT” (titled “Welcome to Derry”) have all been pushed to 2025.
On a brighter note, “The Last of Us” season two is expected to commence production in spring 2024, pending the resolution of the ongoing actors’ strike. This season is also anticipated to air in 2025.
The next exciting revelation centered on the latest Thrones prequel, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.” Bloys expressed hopes that production would begin in the spring. Though casting details are yet to be disclosed due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, it appears that the network has potential candidates in mind. “The Hedge Knight” is based on George R.R. Martin’s popular trio of Dunk and Egg novellas, offering a glimpse into the adventures of “Dunk” and “Egg” approximately a century prior to the events in the original novels.

When it comes to other “Game of Thrones” prequel concepts, Bloys noted that none of them are close to receiving a green light, but the network remains dedicated to developing new ideas in the beloved franchise.
In addition to these exciting updates, Bloys addressed recent allegations from a Rolling Stone report claiming that he used fake Twitter accounts to engage with TV critics in 2020 and 2021. He admitted to the action, describing it as a misguided effort to vent his frustrations. Bloys stressed that this interaction was infrequent and apologized to those who were inadvertently drawn into the controversy. He noted that he has since changed his approach by engaging in direct messages (DMs) with individuals when addressing concerns or critiques.
