The original cast of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is reuniting to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary, Variety reports Monday.
Filming will take place on September 10, and the episode will be released on HBO Max around Thanksgiving (November 26). In April, the cast members gathered for an unofficial reunion, footage of which was seen on Will Smith’s Snapchat account.
A reboot of the series was announced in early August. It will be a dramatic reinterpretation of the hit sitcom in which Will Smith does not play a role. He will, however, act as producer.
The original series originally aired from 1990 to 1996 on NBC and spans a total of 148 episodes. Will Smith played his first major role in the series as a fictionalized version of himself. It was his breakthrough. In the Netherlands, The Fresh Prince was broadcast on RTL 4 from 1991 onwards. Currently all six seasons can be seen on Netflix.
