Goldie Hawn became depressed when she started to become known in the film world, she tells Good Morning Britain on Tuesday . The actress actually had no desire at all to become so famous and had to find tools to deal with that.
“I was 21 and became more and more successful and well-known,” says Hawn (75), who broke through in 1969 with her role in the film Cactus Flower. “It was very difficult, because I was not necessarily waiting for that.”
The actress initially wanted to take her career as a dancer to the next level and moved to California. She was offered a film role and then unexpectedly ended up in Hollywood. “I really didn’t want it all to get that big. I was a dancer, and suddenly everything changed. I really wanted to go home.”
Hawn eventually decided to seek help for her mental health issues.
The actress has played in nearly 40 productions so far. She received an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Cactus Flower . She has also played in well-known films such as Death Becomes Her , Private Benjamin and The First Wives Club.
