Chinese smart device maker Honor just unveiled its first foldable phone. It is the Honor Magic V, a high-end ‘smartphone’ with which it seeks to compete in that segment, largely dominated by brands such as Samsung and Xiaomi.

Its design resembles that of models such as the Galaxy Z Fold3, with a book-type folding system . It consists of an external 6.45-inch OLED screen , a resolution of 2,560 x 1,080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 hertz. When you open it, another almost square OLED panel is displayed, 7.9 inches with a resolution of 2,272 x 1,984 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 hertz.

Regarding its internal specifications, the Honor Magic V is the first foldable equipped with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor , Qualcomm’s most powerful. It also operates with 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage, in addition to having 5G connectivity. Its 4,750 mAh battery supports 66-watt fast charging with Honor’s SuperCharge system. This makes it possible to obtain a 50% charge “in just 15 minutes” , the company says.

The back consists of a rectangular module in which a triple 50 megapixel camera system is located. : one main, another wide-angle and one spectral. Two more cameras, each 42 megapixels, are housed in the front of the outer screen and the inner screen respectively.

The Honor Magic V will be launched in China on January 18 for a price that ranges between $ 1,570 and $ 1,725 depending on the specifications. At the moment its date of arrival on the international market is unknown.
