Donald Trump

Elon Musk, who recently bought Twitter *, has unblocked the account of former US President Donald Trump on the social network. He made this decision on the basis of a vote in which 15 million platform users took part. 52% of respondents voted for the restoration of Trump’s page.

“The people have spoken. Trump will be unbanned,” Musk commented.

Trump has previously said he is not going to return to Twitter even if his account is restored, but over the past few hours, more than 50 million people have subscribed to his page, and this number continues to grow. Many Internet users believe that this will encourage the politician to change his mind, because even the account of the current US President Joe Biden has 36 million users.

Recall that the former leadership of Twitter * blocked the account of Donald Trump on January 7, 2021 after the storming of the Capitol by supporters of the ex-president. The company considered that the politician provokes violence with his tweets.

Elon Musk completed the acquisition of Twitter* in October of this year. He has repeatedly promised to return freedom of speech to the platform and has already restored a number of other accounts blocked for dubious reasons. Not everyone supports the reforms carried out by Musk in the company. Most of the controversy is caused by mass layoffs of employees and the introduction of a paid subscription to the “blue tick”.
