Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Reveals Political Parties’ Overtures Following Supportive Poll
In a recent episode of Trevor Noah’s podcast, ‘What Now?,’ Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson opened up about being approached by various political parties in response to a 2021 poll indicating substantial public backing for his potential presidential candidacy. The Hollywood actor and former WWE wrestler disclosed that the parties made contact at the end of 2022, citing the poll results that showcased 46% of Americans in favor of his run for the presidency.
During the podcast, Johnson expressed his surprise and honor at the parties’ interest, emphasizing that politics has never been his primary goal. He acknowledged the allure of positions like governor or president but stated his reservations about certain aspects of politics, noting his stance as a “centrist” and “political independent.”
The actor, who endorsed President Joe Biden in the 2020 campaign, previously hinted at a potential presidential run. In the podcast, he recounted the parties’ visits and discussions, describing the experience as surreal. Despite considering the possibilities, Johnson highlighted his role as a father as a crucial factor in his decision-making process, mentioning his responsibility to be present for his three daughters.
In 2021, responding to the supportive poll, Johnson took to Instagram, stating, “If it ever happens, it’d be my honor to serve you, the people.” However, in a recent interview, he mentioned that due to his parental responsibilities, a presidential run was currently “off the table.” He expressed concern about the impact such a role would have on his family, particularly his youngest daughters.
While Johnson did not entirely rule out the possibility of a political career in the future, he emphasized his current commitment to fatherhood. He concluded by stating that he would consider a run if it aligns with the wishes of the people, leaving the door open for potential political aspirations down the line.
