The GoFoundMe created to pay for the actor’s medical expenses will also be used for his funeral and to support his family.
Fans and friends of actor Nick Cordero, who died on Sunday (5) due to complications after contracting the coronavirus, made several donations to the GoFundMe page that the actor’s family opened to support his wife Amanda Kloots and son Elvis.
The account was initially opened in April to help with the medical expenses of the Canadian actor, who spent more than three months hospitalized.
Now, after Cordero’s death, the money will also be used for funeral expenses:
“We are heartbroken about updating this account for a memorial,” the family said on the GoFundMe page.
The donations were initially to raise US $ 480,000 to help with medical and financial expenses due to the actor’s fight against COVID-19. Donations have already doubled the initial amount, with a total of more than US $ 974 thousand.
The page also shared Kloots’ announcement of the death of her husband, 41, on July 5:
“God has received another angel today,” Kloots wrote on Instagram that day. “My beloved husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded by love for his family, singing and praying as he gently left this world. “

The testimony continues: “I am incredulous and hurt. My heart is broken, I can’t imagine our lives without it. Nick was like a light. He was everyone’s friend, listened to everyone, helped and talked. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family, he loved being a father and a husband. Elvis and I are going to miss him every day, ”he lamented.
The Bronx Tale star has been admitted to the Cerdars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles since March 31. When he entered the hospital, he was already unconscious and diagnosed with pneumonia. Then he tested positive for the virus on April 1.
Weeks later, the star underwent surgery to amputate her left leg, due to complications with blood flow. During his journey, Kloots kept his followers abreast of Cordero’s progress.
