Disney will release its own streaming service in 2019, which will be called Disney +. In April, the film distributor will reveal more about the new service.
According to CEO Bob Iger, Disney + is now the “top priority” of the company, writes Variety Thursday. When the service will be exactly available, it has not been announced.
It became clear earlier that Disney is going to get all its own content from Netflix and that all Marvel productions will probably also disappear from Netflix. According to Iger it is now time “to stand on your own feet”. Initially, Disney + is only available in the United States. After that the service will be offered worldwide.
Besides a streaming platform for Disney material, the company is also working on a service around ESPN. Soon a special onemand platform will see the light of day. Sports fans can then watch MLB, NHL and MLS competitions.
