Disney is going to make a sequel to the film Cruella , which was released two weeks ago , reports The Hollywood Reporter .
The same team as Cruella will be involved in the sequel . Craig Gillespie will direct the film and Tony McNamara will write the screenplay.
In Cruella , actress Emma Stone plays the villainous Cruella de Vil from the Disney story 101 Dalmatians . The film tells the life story of Cruella and how she grew into a successful but villainous fashion designer.
It is not yet known what the sequel will be about or when it will appear.
Cruella well received
Cruella was released exclusively on Disney+ on May 28 and retails for $30. The film has already grossed 48.5 million dollars worldwide (almost 40 million euros). The film received rave reviews.
Cruella joins Disney’s other successful live-action films, including Alice in Wonderland , Malificent , Aladdin, The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast . Disney is also working on film adaptations of Pinocchio , Peter Pan & Wendy and The Little Mermaid .
