Admitted to intensive care Monday evening after being hospitalized last week, being positive for Covid-19, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson left the unit on Thursday evening, his spokesman said. In recent hours, his health has improved, Finance Minister Rishi Sunak assuring that Boris Johnson can “sit on his bed” and “talk” with caregivers.
“The Prime Minister has been transferred from intensive care to another department of the hospital, where he will be placed under close surveillance during the initial phase of his recovery,” the spokesman said in a statement.

The improvement in his condition is one of the few positive notes when this country sinks into the crisis of the new coronavirus, with daily human balance sheets among the highest in Europe.
The United Kingdom has recorded an additional 881 patient deaths, bringing the total to 7,978 hospital deaths, according to a daily report released Thursday by Foreign Minister Dominic Raab, who is temporarily serving as government chief.
Prominent figures from the Governement and from beyond the UK Border are applauding Thursday’s turn of events. U.S President Donald Trump also cheered by the news.
