The Scottish actress believes that being a couple with Douglas kept her out of “vulnerable situations” in Hollywood.
Catherine Zeta-Jones believes that her marriage to actor Michael Douglas may have saved her from “vulnerable” situations when she was still a young actress in Hollywood.
The 51-year-old shared her thoughts when asked about the Me Too era and her experience as a young actress who moved to Los Angeles from her native Wales.
But the actress said she was lucky she didn’t go through similar tests as her peers, and she has Douglas to thank for that.
“I was very young when I started. Whenever I had to audition, I was never in an environment like that, ”Zeta-Jones told Radio Times in a new interview.
“And when I moved to Hollywood, it wasn’t long before I met my future husband, so everyone knew I was with Michael Douglas.”
“I don’t know if being with Michael was beneficial, but maybe it meant that he was not in settings where he would have been vulnerable otherwise.”
The couple married in 2000 in a star-studded ceremony at New York’s Plaza Hotel, two years after meeting at the Deauville Film Festival in France.
