Singer Jin of the popular K-pop band BTS promises his fans in a video that he will be ‘back soon’. The 30-year-old South Korean singer has started his military service.
“I may not be close right now, but I’ll be back to see you soon, so be patient”
“I’m here in front of the camera because I wanted to leave something for you. Whenever I can, I will make a video for you to share as much as possible,” said Jin. “I may not be close right now, but I’ll be back to see you soon, so be patient. I’ll be back soon.”
Jin is the first of the seven-member group to enlist. The singer will first undergo five weeks of training, after which he will be assigned to a unit on the front line, according to various media.
South Korea still has active military service because the country is officially still at war with North Korea. All men between the ages of 18 and 28 must therefore join the army between 18 and 21 months. An exception was made for the members of BTS. Because of their great international success, they were allowed to postpone their military service until their thirtieth birthday.
