The BBC presenter Rachael Bland died of breast cancer at the age of forty, only days after she announced the news that she had only a few days to live.
In November 2016 Bland got the diagnosis, after which she shared her listeners with the fight against the disease in her own podcast, with which she won many prizes. In May this year she was told that the cancer could not be cured anymore, Monday she got the news that she had only a short life.
Rachael’s husband Steve announced her death on Twitter: “Our beautiful, courageous Rachael died peacefully this morning, surrounded by her close family. We are broken, but she would like me to thank everyone who was interested in her story or sent word of support. “
Bland worked as a news presenter for, amongst others, BBC News Channel and BBC World. She leaves behind a son of two, for whom she wrote a book in haste.
