Marble and Bronze: These are the famous stars on the “Walk of Fame” in Hollywood. Also Donald Trump was honored with one. For the second time since 2016, the five-pronged badge becomes the point of attack for critics of the US president.
The star plaque of Donald Trump on Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame” has been damaged again. The incident had occurred in the early morning, said a police spokesman. A 24-year-old man was arrested. He had to answer for vandalism in court.
The star badge was smashed with a pickaxe, but after only a few hours, a repair team arrived. Any demolition – regardless of which star – will be repaired immediately, said Ana Martinez of the Chamber of Commerce in Hollywood. The five-pointed plaques on a concrete slab are made of marble and bronze. The star will now be covered for a few days until the newly repaired badge can be polished, it said.
Not the first time
Already in October 2016, shortly before Trump’s election victory, the plaque had been demolished by a man with a sledgehammer and a pickaxe. The 52-year-old offender was sentenced to probation. He also had to pay for the repair costs. After the deed, the wealthy businessman had stated that he was out of anger over Trump’s treatment of women and minorities.
Trump received the badge in 2007 for his television programs. It’s right next to actor Kevin Spacey’s in a block of streets in front of the Hollywood & Highland Center. The “Walk of Fame” with more than 2,600 stars honors merit in show business. It runs right through the center of Hollywood.
