Angelina Jolie directs Unreasonable Behavior , a film based on the autobiography of the same name from 1990. The actress and director films the life of British war photographer Don McCullin, who documented the Vietnam War, among other things.
“I’m honored to bring his life to the cinema screen,” Jolie said in a statement shared by Deadline on Thursday .
Jolie says she hopes to “make a film that is as uncompromising as Don’s photography”. “A film that is about the extraordinary people and events that he witnessed, and the rise and fall of a unique era in journalism,” said the actress.
McCullin was impressed by Jolie’s most recent directorial work, First They Killed My Father , which is about Cambodian human rights activist Loung Ung. “I am confident that I am in safe and capable hands with her,” says the now 85-year-old photographer.
Lead actors for the film have not yet been announced. It is also not yet clear when the film will be shown in the cinemas.
Jolie directed the 2014 war film Unbroken , which was nominated three times for an Oscar. McCullin made his breakthrough in the 1960s, after making a series of photos in an atmospheric account of post-war England. He was also present at many historical moments, such as the war for the Falkland Islands and the fall of the Berlin Wall.
