The American artist BJ (Billy Joe) Thomas has died at the age of 78 from lung cancer, Thomas management reports on the Instagram page of the singer of the classic Raindrops Keep Fallin ‘On My Head .
Thomas had his big break with the hit Raindrops Keep Fallin ‘On My Head , the soundtrack to the feature film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford.
He also previously scored a hit with the love song Hooked on a Feeling , which sold more than a million singles. He also sang the title song for the television series Growing Pains and also had success with Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song , Rock and Roll Lullaby , I Just Can’t Help Believing and Whatever Happened to Old-Fashioned Love .
In March 2021, Thomas announced on his Facebook page that he had lung cancer. He was in hospital treatment but died more than two months later at his home in Arlington, Texas. The singer leaves behind a wife and three daughters.
