The world-famous American music festival Coachella will also be canceled this year due to the corona virus. By order of the local health authorities, the festival, which was scheduled from 9 to 18 April in the city of Indio, was canceled.
It has not yet been announced whether the festival will take place at a later time.
It is the third time that the festival has been canceled due to the corona pandemic. In March 2020, the festival, with headliners Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and Rage Against the Machine, was postponed to October. In June it was announced that the festival will not take place on that date either.
It was the first time in twenty years that the festival was canceled last year. No artists were announced for the 2021 edition.
Coachella is one of the most famous music festivals in the world. About a quarter of a million visitors travel to the festival site in California every year.
Coachella isn’t the first major music festival to be canceled this year. Last week, it was announced that the Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom has been canceled. Billboard also reported this week that the Ultra electronic music festival will be canceled in Miami in March. That organization has not yet officially confirmed this.
