Alec Baldwin (64) will not be prosecuted for shooting director Joel Souza (49) on the set of the film ‘Rust’. Several British and American media write that on Sunday. On Thursday it was announced that Alec will be prosecuted for the shooting of camerawoman Halyna Hutchins, who later died of her injuries.

Halyna was killed in October 2021 during the filming. Actor Alec Baldwin was practicing with a revolver, which should have been unloaded. The gun went off anyway and Halyna was fatally struck in the chest. Director Joel Souza was injured. The police have not labeled that last incident as a crime and therefore Alec is not being prosecuted for it.

The actor is being prosecuted for wrongful death because of the shooting of Halyna. Gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who oversaw the guns and ammunition on set, is also being prosecuted. Alec says he didn’t know the gun was loaded. The Ministry of Justice previously reported on the basis of an investigation that the revolver was not deliberately loaded by anyone. However, it was not known at the time how a real bullet could have ended up on the set and in the weapon.

Stephen and the film’s production settled in October 2022 with Matthew Hutchins, the deceased camerawoman’s widower. He then believed that no one is to blame for his wife’s death and spoke of a ‘terrible accident’. He said he was grateful that the film continued production as a tribute to his wife.
