Alec Baldwin says he didn’t pull the trigger on the gun on the set of Rust . That can be seen in a fragment of the first interview with the actor about the fatal shooting incident, which will be broadcast on ABC on Thursday .
Baldwin accidentally shot camerawoman Halyna Hutchins dead in October with a gun that served as a prop. Santa Fe authorities are still investigating the incident. So far, no one has been prosecuted. The authorities have said that several bullets have been found on the film set.
In the released images, interviewer George Stephanopoulos states, among other things, that pulling the trigger of the gun was not in the script. Baldwin then says that he did not pull the trigger.
“Well, it didn’t pull the trigger. I didn’t pull the trigger,” Baldwin said. When Stephanopoulos repeats that, Baldwin confirms his earlier answer. “No, I would never point a gun at someone and then pull the trigger. Never.”
ABC announced Tuesday that journalist Stephanopoulos spoke with the actor for almost an hour and a half. “He was very open and answered every question,” the journalist told Good Morning America . “I’ve done thousands of interviews for ABC over the past twenty years, but this was the most intense conversation I’ve ever had.”
