“Al Brown, known for his role as Stan Valchek in the hit series ‘The Wire,’ passed away at the age of 83 due to Alzheimer’s disease. Brown had a long and varied career, including a 30-year tenure in the US Air Force and two tours in Vietnam.
He began his acting career in the mid-1990s, and went on to appear in a number of popular TV shows and films. In addition to his role in ‘The Wire,’ Brown also had roles in shows like ‘Law and Order SVU’ and ‘The Hustler,’ as well as films like ’12 Monkeys’ alongside Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. On his LinkedIn page, Brown wrote, ‘Have learned almost everything the hard way.
But, have never quit or stopped trying. Believe “honor” is a way of life and should be cherished. Have always wanted to be an actor.’”
