Adele (33) and The Weeknd (32) had a good year in 2021. Adele’s fourth album, ’30’, is the best-selling album of the year. The Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears” is the most-streamed song. This was announced by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
Adele’s highly anticipated fourth album sold over 5 million copies in just two months. “Sour” by Olivia Rodrigo, “Justice” by Justin Bieber, “= (Equals)” by Ed Sheeran and “After Hours” by The Weeknd round out the top five best-selling albums.
‘Save Your Tears’, the most popular song of 2021, topped the charts in 18 countries and was streamed more than 2.1 billion times. ‘Stay’ by The Kid Laroi & Justin Bieber, ‘Levitating’ by Dua Lipa, ‘Butter’ by TBS and ‘Drivers License’ by Olivia Rodrigo round out the top five most streamed songs.
In 2020, The Weeknd also had the most streamed song, then with ‘Blinding Lights’. That song is also in the top ten this year, in seventh place.
