The comedy starring and created by the British actor only survived one season.
Idris Elba’s Netflix comedy Turn Up Charlie has been canceled after just one season.
The series, which was also created by Idris, shows the actor as a successful DJ, who is forced to become a babysitter. It premiered in March 2019 with mixed reviews, and now, according to the Daily Mirror, has been officially canceled.
“Idris hoped to launch a second season and was even working on new ideas, but was unable to get it working,” a source told the publication. “Netflix and Idris just didn’t agree.”
The report comes after Idris spoke about his hopes for a second season of the comedy last May.
“It’s very exciting. I am involved with the creation of the script, which is mainly sowing stories, ”he said at the time. “There are characters who have their own narrative threads now.”
Idris, who recently recovered from the coronavirus, has yet to address the cancellation on her social media pages.
