Mariah Carey has started a lawsuit against a former assistant. Lianna Azarian is said to have leaked private information about the singer to the Daily Mail . Carey is claiming $ 5 million (4.38 million euros) for damages from the assistant for breach of trust and the breach of a confidentiality agreement.
According to The New York Post, in court papers filed Monday, Carey claims that the assistant initially tried to blackmail her. She would have demanded $ 8 million to keep the information to herself.
According to Carey, when the singer did not respond, Azarian shared documents with the British newspaper about, among other things, plastic surgery the singer underwent. In an article about an affair of the musician with dancer Bryan Tanaka during her engagement with James Packer, the assistant would have been the source.
In the papers, the singer’s lawyers note that her former employee was one of the best-paid assistants in the US with a salary of $ 327,000 and that not only Carey but also her entire family trusted her.
