LOS ANGELES – Kate Winslet can hold her breath for an extraordinarily long time. Director James Cameron discovered that during the preparations for the sequel to the blockbuster Avatar. The actress remained under water for seven minutes.
In Avatar 2 there are a few underwater scenes and Kate had to practice for that, James told Vulture. “She was very enthusiastic about it and at the peak she thought, her breath for 7.5 minutes. That was not during a scene but during a training session. During the recording she regularly did two or three-minute scenes in which she swam and acted. “
According to James, it is great to have Kate there. “She really embraced her character Ronal,” said the director. “She is a dream to work with, not the whine she was the first time”, he jokes. “No, she was also a dream on Titanic.”
