Rapper 2 Chainz Celebrates 46th Birthday with Unique Gift and Talks Upcoming Album on ‘The Tonight Show’
(New York, NY) – Rapper 2 Chainz, born Tauheed Epps, made a memorable appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ last Friday. The celebrated rapper, who recently turned 46, surprised viewers and the host himself with an unconventional birthday gift and discussed his forthcoming album with Lil Wayne.
The rapper, known for hits like “It’s a Vibe,” appeared on the late-night talk show alongside Lil Wayne to promote their latest single, “Presha,” and their much-anticipated joint album, ‘Welcome 2 Collegrove,’ which is set to release on November 17, marking their reunion since their 2016 collaboration.
Jimmy Fallon was intrigued by 2 Chainz’s unique birthday celebration and asked him how he marked the occasion. In response, the rapper humorously revealed, “I bought a lawn mower and a strip club.”
When asked about the inspiration behind the lawnmower purchase, 2 Chainz shared a personal reflection. Having grown up in apartments, he had always relied on hired help for property maintenance. However, after acquiring a house with a substantial yard, he felt it was time to try his hand at the task. He stated, “So I pay people to do everything for me, like most rich people do. And then I woke up and I said, ‘You know what? I’ve never cut the grass before.’ And I felt like maybe I hadn’t crossed over the threshold of manhood.” The decision led him to purchase a John Deere lawnmower.
The revelation had both Lil Wayne and Jimmy Fallon in fits of laughter, with Fallon praising it as a “great story.” Additionally, 2 Chainz disclosed that the strip club he mentioned, named “Candyland,” is now open for business in Atlanta. He emphasized, “Needless to say, it’s for adults.”
During their appearance on the show, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne discussed their upcoming album, ‘Welcome 2 Collegrove.’ The title, they explained, is a tribute to their respective upbringings. 2 Chainz hails from College Park, Georgia, while Lil Wayne originates from Hollygrove, Louisiana. By merging the two names, they created a universe of their own, which reflects the essence of their album.

The duo also shared a humorous anecdote about how they first met. Lil Wayne revealed that 2 Chainz was his go-to source for cannabis during his recording sessions in Atlanta back in 2007. When Fallon probed for more details about their initial friendship, 2 Chainz quipped, “Wayne wanted cannabis.” Lil Wayne added, “Every time I would go to Atlanta and I wanted to speak about that one thing, I would always call this guy, to talk about that.”
Their shared passion for music eventually led them to collaborate in the studio, with 2 Chainz introducing Lil Wayne to his own music. The rest, as they say, is history. The two rappers have remained close friends ever since, and Lil Wayne even served as the best man at 2 Chainz’s wedding to Kesha Ward in 2018.
